Evaliline is a Lusaan and young mother, after a great rebellion she is the only survivor of her company, who personally followed the rebel leader, and lives with the father of her child, Mark Lancefield, an Ursaan and the only survivor of the company that put an end to the rebellion. Emotionally trapped in a village that has no love for her or her kind she is forced to put her past behind her at last in order to protect her fellow survivors and the children they damned.
